DISTILLERY NOTES
Each year, our dedicated wild foraging crew compete with the local bear population to deliver us with this delicate liqueur.
Huckleberries are not commercially grown and typically only bear fruit under ideal growing conditions. The wild crops vary significantly in size from year to year depending on how late frosts may have diminished pollination of the flowers to more recently where dry drought-like conditions have reduced the overall crop to minimal.
Both the bears and our foragers have come to an understanding on only harvesting what is needed so as not to upset the other crew. Sustainability, naturally!
BC SPIRITS NOTES
Huckleberries can’t be propagated so teams of two go to pick the wild berries, one to pick and the other to watch for bears. The Okanagan Spirits liqueur like all their liqueurs gives a look into how real fruit liqueurs actually taste, like biting into a fresh huckleberry; sweet, tart, bright acidity and hints of tannic skins and pits.
