What do we mean by ‘Alternative Whisky’? …Alt Whisky is described as a modern, new world spirit made using alternative grains and techniques and by the whims and desires of the distiller them-self.

With that in mind, Ancient Grains was born. Distilled from BC barley, spelt, emmer, khorosan and einkorn-the ancestors of all modern grains and deeply significant to the culture and heritage of our province. Guaranteed to be one of the most unique whiskies one has ever laid lips to.

Aged in new American oak quarter-casks; notes of candied fruit and macadamia nuts combine with spicy notes of clove, allspice and smoke.

BC SPIRITS NOTES

A speciality cask release from Devine Distillery to the Strath Liquor Store of the Ancient Grains at cask strength. This is one of my favorite releases from Devine Distillery but I am a sucker for cask strength whiskies, the obscure ancient grains that make up this mash are unique in every way and bring grain flavors that you may not understand; at cask strength, it's candied red fruit, spice notes of cinnamon and clove and finishes with a deep nuttiness. Only a few bottles left, so grab them ASAP.

Alcohol - 57.7% / 115.4 proof

Color - Dark coffee with hints of copper on the edge

Nose - Candied fruit and macadamia nuts on the nose, rich and reductive umami notes

Taste - Rich nuttiness, candied fruit and rich notes of spice and beautiful rich oak notes

Finish - Long and deep, spice, candied fruit and nuts
