BC Spirits "Spirits a Day" #359 - Indigenous World Spirits Gin

DISTILLERY NOTES

Distilled by Colin Wertz, juniper is macerated in the base spirit for 48 hours before being infused with a combination of locally foraged botanicals, including rose hips, lavender, milk thistle, sorrel, borage and black lace elderberry. Many of these ingredients were traditionally used as medicines by the local indigenous peoples.

BC SPIRITS NOTES

Brand new for me is this awesome Indigenous World Spirits Gin from Kelowna. I love the space they have created in Kelowna for the winery and distillery and this gin is super interesting. Uses sorrel, borage and elderberry to create a very fantastic aroma and flavor, sweet botanicals and the elderberry is so aromatic and gorgeous, really love that.

Alcohol - 40% / 80 proof

Color - Clear

Nose - The elderberry just does it for me straight off the hop, spring time in the Okanagan Valley

Taste - The juniper is understated, more classic earthy tones, the stars of the show are the locally foraged ingredients, floral rosehips, that fruity elderberry and the green borage

Finish - Okanagan Valley in spring time in a glass, aromatic and floral

Best Enjoyed - Play around with a G&T with Fever Tree Elderflower
